MONOCRYL™ Monofilament Suture, Violet, 8-18", Size 0-0 is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of poliglecaprone 25, a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. It is designed as a monofilament to reduce tissue drag and provide smooth passage during placement, minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissue. The violet coloration enhances visibility in the operative field, allowing for precise approximation.

This suture offers high initial tensile strength, supporting wound closure during the critical early healing period. MONOCRYL™ retains approximately 50% to 60% of its original strength at one week and 20% to 30% at two weeks post-implantation. Absorption is complete between 91 and 119 days through hydrolytic degradation, leaving no residual material in the body.

Its handling characteristics are marked by exceptional pliability and consistent knot security. The monofilament structure also reduces the risk of bacterial migration compared to multifilament sutures, making it favorable for use in clean surgical environments. It is especially suited for subcuticular skin closure and soft tissue approximation where rapid absorption is desired.
